Xing Named 2022 American Statistical Association Fellow

Eric Xing has been named a 2022 American Statistical Association fellow for his pioneering contributions to machine learning research, entrepreneurship in artificial intelligence and leadership in AI education.

Eric Xing, a professor in the Machine Learning and Computer Science departments and the Language Technologies Institute, has been named a 2022 American Statistical Association (ASA) fellow for his pioneering contributions to machine learning research, entrepreneurship in artificial intelligence and leadership in AI education.

ASA fellows must have an established reputation and have made outstanding contributions to statistical science. Only one-third of 1% of the ASA’s total members may be designated fellows each year. Xing is among 48 fellows elected in 2022.

Xing, is the founding director of the Center for Machine Learning and Health and the president of Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. He is an IEEE fellow and a fellow of the Association of Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. In 2016, Xing founded Petuum, a startup company with a mission to democratize the owning and using of AI systems and solutions and make even the most advanced AI technology accessible and affordable for everyone who needs it.
